Planning Approval is required when a patio and house wall constant length exceeds 9m and the setback is less than 1.5m to the side or rear boundary.
With Neighbours Consent, most shires allow you to build up to 500mm to the neighbouring boundary. Regulations vary between Council’s.
Planning is also required if your property is Strata Titled. You will need to obtain a letter from the Strata Company giving approval for the proposed patio.
Skillion flat, dome, or gable patios up to 9m in length and have a setbacks less than 1.5 may only require a R Code Variation form submitted with the Building Permit Application, along with Neighbours Consent.
Your local Council is allowed 60 days to approve a Planning Application. This can vary depending on a number of influencing factors and can be out of our control.
Once we receive Planning Approval, our friendly staff will update you with an SMS, and the next process for us is to submit a Building Permit Application.
Please note the entire process from sign up to completion of your patio can take at least 12 weeks.
